I finally indulged with the purchase of an iPad so I am playing with the WordPress app to see how well it works and get an idea of whether or not it will be worth my time to mess with in the future.
So far, so good.
I’m excited because I love technology and I think I can use this to be more productive and informed while giving my laptop a break once in a while.
If anyone has any iPad tips, feel free to drop them in the comments!
OK, you caught me.
I’m playing around with another new site.
First I had www.marcushartman.com and the original Cus Words Blog. Then I started up a Tumblr (and I didn’t even mention my first try at this back when I was still in college).
Now it’s on to WordPress for my Ohio State sports thoughts and observations (I started up a side blog to supplement my work at BuckeyeSports.com because many people contribute there and sometimes it’s tough to fit everything into the ever-changing news cycle).
What’s with the world wide vagabonding?
Well when you get right down to it, it’s all about exposure. I started the iWeb blog because I had the software and the webspace so I figured I might as well use it.
That proved to be a good way to start and learn a few of the ins and outs, but the limitations the site’s structure creates for search engines has proven frustrating, and some research has indicated that I am not alone in that regard.
That led me to Tumblr. I like that a lot, but I feel like I would be out of place using that for a mostly text-based blog. I like putting up both relevant and irreverent pictures and reblogging general interest posts there, too, so I think I’d like to keep it separate. Plus that’s a good place to link all my stories and blog entries and mentions from around the web, a one-stop shop for Marcus information, if you will.
So we’ll try it this way for a while and see what happens.
I might copy some of the greatest hits over from the old blog, but I’m definitely not going to take it down. In the future, I might maintain it as a strictly non-sports site if I feel like sharing those types of thoughts.
I hope you’ll be along for the ride.
